Frequently asked questions

What is cenometrs.lv and how does it work?

cenometrs.lv's main goal is to show you where fuel is cheapest right now, so you save money on every fill-up. It automatically tracks and compares fuel prices across Latvia — 95 and 98 petrol, diesel, D+ (premium diesel) and LPG (autogas) — at Circle K, Virši and Viada, sorted from cheapest to most expensive (Neste no longer publishes its station prices, so only its accumulated history is available). Each station's address is shown so you can immediately see where it's cheapest nearby, and you can also explore price charts, day- and week-over-week dynamics, and a full price history. It's handy for planning a fill-up, picking a network for a specific trip, or just keeping an eye on how prices move.

Where do the prices come from?

All prices are read directly from the official fuel provider websites (Circle K, Virši, Viada) rather than third-party or user-submitted sources, so they match what you'll see at the pump. Neste no longer publishes its prices, so only its history is available.

Do the displayed prices include discounts?

The prices shown are the public prices posted at the stations — the same ones on the station's price board. They don't include personal loyalty-card discounts, which vary per customer. Separately, we mark discount days — occasional days when the networks lower their prices for everyone — with a discount indicator on the chart.

How do I find out about discount days?

Discount days only become known on the day itself — Circle K and Virši both cut their prices by at least 4 cents on the same day, and that is the signal a discount day is recognised by. That is why cenometrs.lv runs a Telegram channel: on each discount day it gets one message with the day's prices and how far they have fallen. No email and no sign-up, and you can leave the channel at any time. The link is on this page, next to the price list.

How often are fuel prices updated?

Prices are read automatically at least every 30 minutes, so the data stays current throughout the day.

Where is fuel cheapest in Latvia, and which network is cheapest overall?

cenometrs.lv compares Circle K, Virši and Viada in real time and ranks them from cheapest to most expensive, so the cheapest station for each fuel is always on top, with prices refreshing at least every 30 minutes. But which network is cheapest on average changes daily and by fuel type, so there's no single permanent answer: the price history table shows each network's average, minimum and maximum over your chosen period and highlights the cheapest on average.

What if I only care about 95 petrol, diesel, or one specific station?

Use the filters at the top of the page — select one or more fuel types and/or stations, and the whole page (prices, charts, dynamics and history) will automatically narrow down to just what you care about. Your selection is remembered for next time.

Why bother with the chart, price history or dynamics?

Historical data shows whether a price has risen or fallen recently, helps you pick a better moment for a bigger fill-up, and reveals which network is cheapest for a given fuel type over the long run — useful for an everyday driver who wants to plan ahead rather than just see today's price.

What will happen to fuel prices?

cenometrs.lv doesn't forecast prices, but it shows where they've been heading: each fuel's chart and the day- and week-over-week change indicators reveal whether prices have been rising or falling recently, so you can decide when to fill up.
